One of the best Filipino food there is. Cook some for your friends or even for yourself.
Estimated cooking time: 20 minutes
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Ingredients: (You can have a choice of ground pork or ground beef or both)
1lb ground pork
1lb pound ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, grated or chopped
1/4 cup soy sauce
2.5 teaspoons black pepper
1.5 tablespoons garlic powder
1.5 tablespoons salt or to add to your taste
1 (16 ounce) package spring roll wrappers
1 1/2 quarts oil for frying
Preparation:
Combine ground pork, ground beef, onion, and carrots in a large bowl. Use your hands to mix.
Add soy sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt until all ingredients are evenly distributed
With your spring roll wrapper, separate all of them.
Place about 2 – 3 tablespoon of combined ingredients to your spring roll wrapper.
When you have your desired amount of fillings, roll the wrappers and fold them towards the center. Moisten the end of the wrapper to seal.
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry 3 to 4 lumpia at a time. Fry for about 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Lumpia are cooked through when they float, and the wrapper is golden brown.
Serve with sweet and sour sauce or with banana ketchup.
There you have it, one of the best Filipino food. The lumpia or eggroll or the lumpiang shanghai.
Lumpia is one of my favorite appetizer when I go to the Philippines or eat Filipino food here in the U.S.
I liked them very much. Thank you for this recipe, I will be making my own.
